The Role

We are seeking a committed and compassionate Student Engagement Officer to join our Behaviour Management and Support Services team. This role is central to promoting student wellbeing, supporting positive behaviour, and encouraging engagement in both academic and community life.

Working closely with the Coordinator of Support Services and teaching staff, you will:

Provide one-on-one and group support for students’ wellbeing and engagement.

Assist in behaviour management, crisis intervention, and case management.

Develop and deliver wellbeing programs around resilience, social/emotional health, grief and loss, and transition support.

Support teachers with resources and strategies to manage student wellbeing in the classroom.

Maintain accurate case notes, records and reports on student support activities.

Participate in college and community events, including excursions and external programs.

About You

You are patient, empathetic and motivated to support Indigenous students in their learning and wellbeing. You will bring:

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Skills in behaviour management, record-keeping and program delivery.

Commitment to the Christian ethos of Yirara College.

Essential:

Current Ochre Card (Working With Children Clearance).

Current Police Clearance.

COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate.

Desirable:

Qualifications in youth work, counselling, or student support (or equivalent experience).

NT Driver’s Licence (LR or higher).

Experience working with Aboriginal students and communities.
