Maximum term contract up to 30 June 2027, with potential to extend
1 Position – 0.4 FTE (with potential to increase to 0.5 FTE)
WAAC promotes a workplace that actively seeks to include, welcome and value the unique contribution of all people. At the heart of our organisation is the commitment to provide a range of services that leads to positive healthy people in inclusive, connected communities.
The opportunity
We are looking for a passionate and community-driven professional to join our team as an Officer – CONNECT Project.
In this role, you will support and lead aspects of the development, delivery, and evaluation of the CONNECT HIV Self Test Vending Machine Project in Perth. CONNECT directly addresses barriers by providing easy access vending machines placed in discreet locations where priority populations frequent, making testing more accessible to those who may not otherwise test. In addition, a key element of the pilot will be encouraging people to undertake regular sexual health testing and supporting them to access a culturally safe treatment cascade that includes further testing, treatment and support.
Reporting to the Coordinator – Population Health and Community Development, your work will include:
· Logistical support for the vending machines places at university campuses
· Promoting HIV self testing to relevant stakeholders and communities
· Engaging with sector organisations and communities
· Building internal and external partnerships
About you
You are a skilled, seriously passionate and qualified individual with experience working on a variety of health promotion projects involving diverse communities including People Living with HIV, LGBTIQA+SB, First Nations and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) people.
Formal qualifications are great but not essential—we’re more interested in the right person with the right vibe: someone with a can-do attitude who is confident getting out there, connecting with communities, and sparking conversations on these HIV and sexual health.
You are an awesome and unique individual. Your past or current involvement as a community champion, peer educator or within the not-for-profit community services sectors will be viewed favourably, ideally with experience in the delivery of sexual health and blood-borne virus services.
We strongly encourage applications from people with multicultural backgrounds, as lived experience and cultural knowledge are highly valued in this role.
What we can offer
· An hourly rate of $36.96, plus superannuation
· Generous salary packaging scheme
· Employee Assistance Program
· Learning and development opportunities via ELMO
· Study leave
· Employee Reward and Recognition Program
· Flexible and friendly team environment
· A culture where being authentically human is highly valued
Take your career to the next level
If you are keen to take up the challenge and have a positive attitude, are enthusiastic and passionate about providing excellent support to all people, we would love to hear from you!
