Responsibilities:
Ability to manage and lead educational support staff and work cooperatively with a range of people including the principal class, teachers, students, and parents and the broader school community. Implement improvement initiatives, while aligning business operations with the college's vision, goals and educational priorities.
Relevant senior administrative experience in financial and personnel management and a commitment to support the Principal, Council and leadership through the timely and accurate management and leadership of those functions.
A strong working knowledge of school budgeting and CASES21 financial and procurement processes. This includes budget preparation, financial reporting, negotiation with service providers in respect to the cost of quality of services, and ensuring compliance with departmental and audit requirements. Proven ability to interpret and apply financial policies and guidelines to support financial decision-making, as well as the tendering of advice and recommendations to the Principal and Council. Ensuring end of month and end of year deadlines are met in accordance with departmental guidelines and school priorities.
An excellent working knowledge of departmental human resource software packages, Recruitment Online, eduPay, and the SRP planner, reports and guidelines. Excellent knowledge of employment conditions relevant to school based staff to support the Principal when required.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and resolve complex issues through problem solving and building strong relationships. Ability to exercise initiative, work independently, and respond to changing demands in a dynamic school environment.
Ability to adapt responsively to unforeseen challenges to ensure continuity of school operations.
High level of written and verbal communication skills.

Role:
The Business Manager is a key member of Melbourne Girls' College's leadership team, responsible for the effective and efficient management of the financial operations, human resources and physical resources. This role supports the Principal and Council in the strategic and operational leadership of the college by ensuring compliance with departmental policies, managing budgets, overseeing school operations, and facilitating sound governance practices relating to financial operations and human resources when required.
The Business Manager leads administrative and educational support staff, ensuring systems are in place to support teaching and learning. The Business Manager contributes to long term planning, risk management, infrastructure development, procurement, and workforce planning.
The role requires strong financial knowledge, organisational skills, and the ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the school community.
Qualification highly desirable
