About the role As a Fitter - Maintenance Fitter, you will install, commission, maintain and repair mechanical workshop equipment and associated systems at client sites across Sydney (with occasional regional travel). You’ll diagnose faults, complete scheduled servicing and ensure safe, reliable operation of equipment.
Key responsibilities
• Fit, assemble, install and commission mechanical machinery and workshop equipment to specification
• Interpret drawings, schematics and work orders; set up and adjust machinery; verify tolerances with precision measuring instruments
• Diagnose, repair and overhaul mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems; perform basic electrical fault-finding related to equipment operation
• Conduct preventative maintenance, inspections and equipment overhauls; complete service reports and maintenance records
• Install and route hydraulic/pneumatic lines and components; test, recommission and hand-over to clients • Work safely to WHS requirements; contribute to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction
• Collaborate with a close-knit team to meet client SLAs and deadlines; provide on-site support and problem resolution
Skills, qualifications and experience
• Trade qualification in Engineering – Mechanical (e.g., Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade) or equivalent experience
• Proven experience in a hands-on maintenance fitter role in industrial/workshop environments
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics; basic electrical fault-finding competency
• Ability to read technical drawings/specifications and use precision measurement tools
• Current driver’s licence and ability to travel to client sites (including occasional regional trips)
• Strong troubleshooting skills, personal accountability and commitment to safe work practices
• White Card and relevant high-risk licences desirable (or willingness to obtain)
