The Role

This Special Counsel position will see you take the leading role in front-end construction and infrastructure matters in Brisbane, working on:

• Major energy and infrastructure projects across Australia and the broader region;
• Drafting and negotiating a wide range of project agreements including EPC, D&C, O&M, FM, BOP, supply contracts, and joint venture arrangements;
• Advising on procurement strategies and early-stage project structuring;
• Supporting large-scale transactions in both the public and private sectors, including PPPs; and
• Contributing to team leadership, mentoring junior lawyers, and driving business development initiatives; and
• The successful candidate will be supported in building their market presence, with a clear pathway for partnership. This is a pivotal role in a global firm.

About You

You will be a commercially astute and client-focused construction and infrastructure lawyer with:

• At least 10 years’ post-admission experience in project work;
• Proven expertise across large-scale infrastructure and energy developments;
• Experience with PPPs, joint ventures, and key construction delivery models;
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills and a pragmatic approach to legal risk;
• The ability to manage complex client relationships and run matters;
• An existing client base and the a strong business development mindset and willingness to leverage an international network; and
• An interest in growing a team from the ground up.
