The Role
We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Waste to Energy Engineer to play a key role in driving the commercial performance of our Waste to Energy assets. In this role, you will lead the development and delivery of asset management strategies aligned with Yarra Valley Water's Asset Management Framework, focusing on our two Waste to Energy facilities. You will also spearhead initiatives to enhance the re-use and commercialisation of digestate outputs, supporting both operational excellence and sustainability goals.
Your key responsibilities
- Lead the long-term asset management strategy that optimises operational and commercial performance of Waste To Energy assets in line with YVW's Asset Management Framework.
- Identify and develop commercial opportunities, particularly in digestate re-use and new revenue-generating services (e.g. food waste de-packaging, biomethane upgrading).
- Manage the development of technical capabilities for digestate processing at the Wollert Waste To Energy facility.
- Oversee digestate product research, including field trials and product improvement initiatives.
- Deliver end-to-end project management for operational and capital projects, including budget management and stakeholder reporting.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams (operations, finance, procurement, planning) to ensure integrated project outcomes.
What we're looking for
- Relevant Degree level qualification in Engineering (mechanical or process)
- Experience in operational waste, environmental or engineering related roles
- Demonstrated experience in delivering successful projects
- Demonstrated experience with procurement processes
- Experience working in collaborative partnering models with commercial outcomes
- Valid Victorian drivers licence, mandatory
