Located at the eastern end of Waiheke Island, Man O’ War Bay is home to the island’s only beachfront Cellar Door. Surrounded by vineyards, orchards, and beaches, we’re proud to produce exceptional wines and seasonal dishes that reflect our deep respect for the land.

The Role

You’ll oversee two dynamic culinary spaces:

The Pavilion Restaurant – Serving lunch daily, featuring sourdough pizzas and seasonal produce

The Events Pavilion – Hosting weddings, private functions, and signature Man O’ War events that celebrate food, wine, and community.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and inspire a talented kitchen team

Design, cost, and execute seasonal menus

Manage food and labor budgets

Ensure quality and consistency across all dishes

Uphold food safety standards and compliance

Hire, train, and mentor staff

Drive innovation and growth across both departments

About You

Proven experience in a Head Chef role

Strong leadership and team management skills

Excellent communication and organizational abilities

Calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Confident across a variety of cooking styles

Must-Haves

Flexibility and resilience in a busy kitchen environment

NZ Residency or ability to work permanently in NZ

Must reside on Waiheke Island

Full driver’s license
