Core Talent have partnered with a local council to recruit an experienced Traffic Planning Engineer to join their busy team.
- 3 month contract to start with potential permanent opportunities for the right candidates
- $65-$75ph depending on experience
- 3 days WFH
- Immediate start
Purpose of the role:
To assist and contribute to the development and implementation of a safe and efficient traffic and transport system in the Local Government Area (LGA), by traffic and transport impact assessment of development proposals, planning and input in the implementation of traffic facilities and public transport systems.
Duties required in this position:
- Undertaking traffic and transport impact assessment of traffic generating developments applications and land use rezoning proposals.
- Developing, implementing policies and procedures and/or providing recommendations which relate to strategic traffic, transport and road safety matters.
- Analysis and implementation of public transport systems in the LGA.
- Providing Council with expert advice on traffic and road safety matters including the investigation, analysis, formulation of solutions, and preparation of reports.
- Assist in the administration of the Local Traffic Committee, including preparation of the report and attending the Local Traffic Committee meetings.
- Representing Council in NSW Land & Environment Court, community forums in relation to traffic, transport and road safety issues.
- Seeking necessary approvals, including advertising and technical advice for traffic management road permits, road closures (temporary and permanent) and traffic requirements in accordance with the NSW Local Government and Roads Acts.
- Planning, project management, co-ordination and implementing traffic and transport projects programs within budget constraints and agreed time frames.
- Ensuring effective liaison and communication with external organisations and stakeholders including Transport for NSW, Department of Planning & Environment on land use and transport interaction.
- Ensuring Council's traffic/transport resources are used responsibly, safely and efficiently.
- Managing tasks allocated by Transport Management, Team Leader and Manager.
Ideal Candidate:
- 3-5 years' proven experience in traffic and transport engineering
- Strong technical proficiency with the ability to apply traffic engineering principles effectivelySound knowledge of
- TfNSW guidelines and industry standards
- Confidence in reading, reviewing, and interpreting design plans
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across teams and with the community
- High-level stakeholder engagement experience, ensuring positive collaboration and outcomes
- Customer service focus, including the ability to respond to and manage a high volume of community requests in a professional and timely manner
