ABOUT THE ROLE

The Head of Operations manages the strategic implementation, high-quality governance, regulatory and financial compliance, refined systems, and team leadership commensurate with organisational stability, synergy and growth. In partnership with the CEO and leadership team, and the direct reporting of administrative staff, this role enables our programs and educators to thrive, helping achieve our mission of safer, happier children.

ABOUT BODY SAFETY AUSTRALIA

Body Safety Australia is Victoria's largest and most trusted provider of programs, training and resources to help children and young people be free from violence and enjoy equitable and respectful relationships. We take a holistic and whole-of-community approach to harm prevention, delivering services to:

Children and young people in early childhood education, primary schools and secondary schools

Parents and carers

Teachers and education staff

Community, sector and governing bodies

We also engage in a wide range of activities to support our work and contribute to the primary prevention and child protection sector, including robust research and evaluation projects, advocacy, social media, webinars and podcasts. WE’RE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO:

Have superior knowledge and experience of operational functions and systems, Industrial Relations and human resources best practices, setting and meeting financial targets and organisational compliance.

Is familiar with the responsibilities of executive leadership and governance, and wants to form a strong relationship with leaders.

Have a desire to learn, share knowledge and support a team, leading from beneath.

Have an understanding of primary prevention education and the critical issues associated with sexual and family violence and understanding of child protection practices and compliance.

Are experienced in the areas of governance support, finance, office management, human resources, particularly in education consulting and/or non-profit organisations

Have a tertiary qualification/s in business management or over 5 years’ relevant experience.

Have a current Working with Children Check and agree to undergo a police check

Are an excellent verbal and written communicator with exemplary phone manner and time management skills

WHAT YOUR DAY LOOKS LIKE

The Head of Operations role will best suit someone who works best with a diverse portfolio and is able to adapt quickly to changing priorities, bringing proactivity and motivational energy to their workplace. Body Safety Australia is lean organisation that is growing rapidly in response to recent focuses on child safety by the public and policymakers.

The breadth of responsibilities and grassroots nature of the organisation means you’ll constantly be adjusting to suit the day-to-day needs of the team and the organisation’s objectives. This role requires someone who can approach their own role strategically and manage their time to ensure that they get to progress each area of accountability (eg finance, governance, project management) to best service the bigger picture. You will be in strong communication with the CEO, which is a critical relationship that informs the understanding of direction which you’ll have the knowledge, gut instinct and initiative to translate into operational tactics.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Governance and strategic direction of the organisation as a member of the leadership team.

Action key finance duties and work toward financial targets

Manage administration team members, activities, targets and systems improvement, including bookings and sales tactics.

Lead Human Resources actionables including recruitment/onboarding, KPI setting and performance management, development and implementation of policies and procedures.

Provide direction and support for proper office management/maintenace, key compliance duties and overseeing our special projects.
