About The Role!
The Manager, Government Relations will play a vital role in advocating and communicating to Government the importance and value of community pharmacy as a network of trusted healthcare professionals across Australia. The position will be responsible for coordination of the Guild’s federal political engagement plan to ensure its political and policy objectives are met.
This role is a full-time, ongoing opportunity and is based at the Guild’s National Secretariat in Canberra. We are open to providing relocation support for the right candidate.
About You!
You are someone who wants to make a difference with their work. You are passionate about advocacy, campaigns and stakeholder engagement. You will bring your experience and expertise across government relations, a political office, campaigning, advocacy or organising role.
You have a robust knowledge of the mechanics of Federal and State politics, you understand what makes the system tick and how to work within it.
Your approachability and professionalism inform your ability to develop and manage relationships, particularly in a political context, is indispensable! Established political relationships would be advantageous.
You are no stranger to putting together briefings, reports, papers, and communications.

The role responsibilities of the Manager, Government Relations include:
• Identify key stakeholders and build positive and effective relationships with federal politicians, advisors, key ministerial staff and others influencing health policy
• Manage the development and maintenance of the political database and electoral profiles
• Draft and distribute regular communications for politicians and key staff so they are kept informed on Guild activities and issues relating to community pharmacy
• Prepare political briefing material for Guild Elected Officials.
• Write reports for the Government and Public Relations Committee
• Contribute to timely, effective and accurate issues management when required
• Contribute to effective advocacy and promotion of community pharmacy
• Coordinate Guild attendance at political party conferences, forums and fundraisers
