Are you a data-driven professional looking to make a meaningful impact? We’re recruiting for multiple roles at APS6 and EL1 levels within a high-performing Data and Reporting Unit that supports economic and pricing policy and market monitoring in the disability sector.
These roles offer the opportunity to work on nationally significant initiatives, using data to inform policy, pricing decisions, and market performance strategies.
About the Team:
The Data and Reporting Unit plays a critical role in analysing Scheme expenditure, detecting pricing anomalies, and tracking provider dynamics. The team contributes to major publications such as the Annual Pricing Review and collaborates across the organisation to ensure consistency and quality in reporting.
APS6 – Data & Reporting Analyst:
As an APS6 team member, you’ll contribute to analytical work including data advisory, analysis, management and reporting. You’ll work collaboratively to support complex policy and market monitoring initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and deploy scalable data, statistical and mathematical modelsDevelop and execute data collection and presentation strategiesDeliver regular and ad hoc reports to inform policy and pricing decisionsMaintain dashboards tracking market performance and pricing trendsEngage with stakeholders to support project deliveryParticipate in data forums and contribute to data transformation initiatives
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Experience working with large datasets and data warehouses
- Proficiency in R, Python, Excel, SAS/SQL
- Ability to communicate complex data to non-technical audiences
- Collaborative team player with independent problem-solving ability
- Stakeholder engagement experience
Desirable Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or related field
- Experience in statistical modelling and forecasting
EL1 – Assistant Director, Data & Reporting
As an EL1 Assistant Director, you’ll lead a small team and oversee the delivery of analytical work that supports economic and pricing policy and market monitoring. This role combines technical expertise with strategic leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and deployment of scalable data models
- Oversee data collection and presentation strategies
- Guide the delivery of reports and insights for policy development
- Manage dashboards for pricing and market performance
- Formalise data insights and integrate third-party data sources
- Lead stakeholder engagement and project delivery
- Represent the team in data forums and drive transformation initiatives
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Advanced technical and analytical capability
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Strong communication skills for translating complex data
- High-level stakeholder engagement and strategic thinking
- Proficiency in R, Python, Excel, SAS/SQL
Desirable Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant quantitative field
- Experience in statistical modelling and forecasting
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques such as SVMs, neural networks, and classification trees
Role Details
- Classification: APS6 and EL1
- Employment Type: Full-time, Labour hire contract
- Location: Canberra
- Security Clearance: Baseline Clearance
- Australian Citizenship is a requirement for these roles.
