Role: Industrial Officer (Member support) (Fixed-term, full time contract)
Position Location: Hobart, Tasmania
Salary: $99,097 per annum plus 15% superannuation (as per AEU Tasmanian Branch Emplyoees' Agreement 2024: Level 6, Rung 1)

Your role:
Our Member Support Officers provide assistance to AEU members on a wide range of workplace queries, including in crisis situations.
As part of a small team, you will be supporting members to resolve queries and issues and explaining their entitlements and rights to them. You will be reporting to our Senior Industrial Officer.
Our support model is based around our empowering our members by providing advice and information, wherever possible.
Key duties:
The core of your duties is focused on individual member support.
Respond promptly to member and member representatives’ enquiries, in person, online and over the telephone
Provide authoritative advice both oral and in writing in relation to a wide range of issues. These include but are not limited to:
workplace issues
pay issues
workers compensation
workplace health and safety
discrimination issues
Assist in supporting our organising team as directed
Accurately record communications
Attend meetings as a support person and/or advocate
Assist the Senior Industrial Advocate with a range of tasks including drafting, research, appearing in courts or tribunals
Drafting and maintaining Fact sheets and other member publications
Providing reports and submissions as required including for Executive and Branch Council as directed
Participate in wider union-based campaigns and activities
Other duties as required
The successful applicant will be based in our Hobart office with great conditions on a fixed-term full time (37.5 hours) contract of 19 months (commencing early October) following the standard probationary period.
