Senior Windows Specialist – Digital Canberra

About the Role
Digital Canberra is seeking an experienced Senior Windows Specialist to join the Technology Services Branch (TSB). This role will provide technical expertise and support across Microsoft Windows server infrastructure in a large, multi-tenant enterprise environment.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of core Windows services used by ACT Government directorates and agencies. This is a great opportunity to contribute to whole-of-government digital transformation initiatives and work on complex enterprise-level projects.

What You’ll Do

• Provide expert technical support for Microsoft Windows Server environments, including DNS, DHCP, Failover Clustering, IIS, SQL Server, and PowerShell.
• Manage and maintain on-premise, virtualised (VMware vSphere), and Azure cloud platforms.
• Perform fault diagnosis, remediation, monitoring, and reporting to maintain high availability.
• Develop new technical solutions and processes aligned with government business needs.
• Mentor and support technical team members, stakeholders, and partners.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and provide feedback to senior management.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years’ experience in Microsoft Windows systems administration in enterprise environments.
• Strong skills in both on-premises server hardware and cloud/virtualised environments (VMware, Azure).
• Expertise in PowerShell scripting, automation, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems with innovative, long-term solutions.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and influencing skills.
• Organisational skills to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.

Compliance & Requirements

• NV1 Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain and maintain one) is mandatory.
• Must be an Australian Citizen.
• ITIL framework knowledge highly desirable.
