Waverley Council is seeking a Senior Development Assessment Planner to join our Fast Track team, delivering efficient, high-quality planning assessments and shaping the built environment of one of Sydney’s most vibrant communities

The Role

  • Efficiently and effectively assessing non contentious development related applications
  • Ensuring statutory compliance and alignment with Council’s planning policies
  • Providing expert planning advice and support across Council
  • Contributing to planning systems and process improvements
  • Mentoring junior staff and acting in higher duties when required
  • Engaging with customers and stakeholders to deliver outstanding service

What you’ll bring?

  • Tertiary Qualification/s at degree level in planning, architecture, urban design or equivalent.
  • Experience (minimum of 6years) in the assessment and resolution of complex planning, heritage and urban design issues associated with development applications, preferably in local government.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979, and other relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills, including the ability to mediate outcomes and liaise with community focus/precinct groups.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and to balance and respond flexibly to competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, report writing, presentation and computer and administrative skills.
  • Current C Class drivers’ licence.
