The Role: Project Engineer
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Project Engineer for a 12 month contract with an option to transition to full-time. You will lead and coordinate the delivery of bespoke automation and robotics projects across mining, industrial, and manufacturing sectors. This role is ideal for someone with 3–7 years of experience in engineering project delivery who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
You’ll be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle—from concept and design through to commissioning and client handover—ensuring technical excellence, budget control, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of automation and robotics projects.
Coordinate cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and risk registers.
Liaise with clients to define requirements, provide updates, and manage expectations.
Oversee procurement, logistics, and subcontractor engagement.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and engineering standards.
Prepare project documentation including scopes, reports, and handover packs.
Support commissioning and site acceptance testing as required.
What You’ll Bring
Essential:
Full Australian working rights.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related) or similar qualification/experience.
3–7 years of experience in project engineering or project management roles.
Proven ability to manage technical projects from concept to completion.
Experience with document control systems (e.g. Fortescue PIMS, Aconex etc.)
Experience with EPCM Projects
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Willingness to travel to remote client sites as needed - both locally and internationally.
Desirable:
Experience in automation, robotics, or industrial systems integration.
Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA, or control systems.
Exposure to mining or heavy industry environments.
PMP or PRINCE2 certification (or working towards).
Basic understanding of ERP systems and document control platforms.
