General Manager - Commercial Cleaning

The Opportunity

This is your chance to take the reins of daily operations for one of Queensland’s most respected commercial cleaning businesses — and help guide it through its next big growth phase.

Commercial Clean Australia is growing, and they are looking for a capable, hands-on General Manager who can keep operations running smoothly while positioning the business for significant growth. You’ll work directly with the Managing Director to turn the strategic vision into real-world results.

Commercial Clean Australia has been keeping workplaces across Queensland spotless since 2011. From offices and schools to retail centres and government facilities, they deliver reliable, professional cleaning services to more than 480 clients each week.

With their head office in Brisbane (Morningside), a Sunshine Coast satellite office, and a small Gold Coast presence, they are well-placed for continued expansion, including future regional hubs.

About You

You’re a proven operational leader who thrives on structure, systems, and people development. You enjoy working closely with a business owner while having the autonomy to make decisions and run the day-to-day.

You can manage multiple sites and teams without losing sight of the details. You’re commercially minded, data-driven, and comfortable leading tenders for large-scale contracts. You know how to keep things moving, even when it’s busy, and you bring a steady, solutions-focused approach to challenges.

Your New Role

You’ll lead all aspects of daily operations — from service delivery and team management to financial performance and compliance. Your mission is to build strong systems and an accountable team culture that can support rapid growth.

You’ll also play a key role in major tender processes ($200K–$1M+) and prepare the business for future expansion, including the integration of remote/offshore roles.

The salary band for this role ranges from $165,000 to $185,000 plus superannuation, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Role Requirements

Significant senior operational leadership experience in a multi-site, service-based business (cleaning, facilities, trades, NDIS preferred)

Proven experience managing large-scale tenders ($200K–$1M+)

Strong financial management skills — budgeting, P&L, and margin improvement

Experience leading and developing mid-level managers and diverse teams

Track record of scaling operations while maintaining quality and profitability

Experience working with remote/offshore teams

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Ability to balance hands-on involvement with strategic leadership

Leadership in a high-volume, people-focused service industry

Operational and financial management capability

Tender management and contract delivery experience

HR and recruitment knowledge

Process and systems improvement skills

Key Areas of Responsibility
Operational Excellence

Purpose: Ensure seamless, efficient operations across all sites.

Responsibilities:

Lead daily operations across Brisbane HQ, Sunshine Coast satellite, Gold Coast, and future locations

Maintain service quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction

Implement and refine workflows for productivity

Align operational activity to growth and profitability goals

Tender Management

Purpose: Secure profitable, large-scale contracts that drive business growth.

Responsibilities:

Lead tender processes for contracts $200M–$1M+

Ensure compliance and competitive positioning

Oversee operational readiness for new contract delivery

Monitor tender pipeline and success rates

Financial Acumen

Purpose: Meet financial targets through careful planning and control.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and manage operational budgets

Review and act on monthly P&L

Drive margin improvements and cost efficiencies

Report financial performance to the MD

Team Management, Development & Engagement

Purpose: Build a high-performing, accountable leadership team.

Responsibilities:

Lead Ops Manager, Admin/Finance Lead, Area Managers, and Sales team (until Sales Manager is appointed)

Recruit, develop, and retain top talent

Embed performance management and accountability

Foster a positive, results-driven culture

Service Delivery

Purpose: Deliver consistent, high-quality cleaning services to all clients.

Responsibilities:

Oversee service standards and quality control

Manage client escalations under $100K contract value

Support MD on $200K+ tender-related client relationships

Integrate new business into operations smoothly

Remote & Offshore Team Integration

Purpose: Prepare for and lead offshore workforce components.

Responsibilities:

Manage and integrate offshore/remote team members

Establish communication and performance frameworks

Maintain cultural alignment across all teams
