Farmers Markets Manager/ Events Management Career

About Us:

Goodwill Projects is one of Australia’s largest and most awarded market, venue and event operators. Winners of the 2023 Telstra Best of Business Award – Building Communities and the 2024 Australian Small Business Champion Awards, we have been delivering vibrant, community-focused experiences since 2006.

With a portfolio of 12 high-profile markets, the iconic Eat Street Northshore and over 100,000 weekly attendees, we create meaningful spaces where small business thrives, and communities connect.

Our team of 45+ work across markets, events, and venue activations, including major lifestyle precincts and seasonal events. We are proudly independent and growing, with a strong reputation for professionalism, creativity and operational excellence.

About the Role:

We are seeking a Farmers Market Manager to lead operations for one of the Gold Coast’s most iconic Sunday markets. This is a dynamic, people -focused role that involves both administrative responsibilities and an active presence at the markets that blends event coordination, operations, customer service, and team leadership.

As a key part of our leadership team, you will also support the delivery of seasonal twilight events and collaborate on market-wide initiatives. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in events, with flexibility and genuine impact.

Why You’ll Want to Join Us

· Lead with Purpose – Take ownership of your market, manage a dynamic site, and help create a thriving space for local businesses and community connection.

· Flexibility Built In – Enjoy a mix of early starts, admin days, and flexible hours that give you variety and balance across the week.

· No Two Days the Same – Enjoy a hands-on role where every shift brings something new — from vendor coordination to live problem solving.

· Supportive, Down-to-Earth Team – Work alongside passionate, hard-working people who back each other and celebrate the wins together.

· Be Part of Something Bigger – Contribute to one of Queensland’s leading market networks, with opportunities to grow your skills and career across events, placemaking and community engagement.

How you’ll make an impact:

As the Market Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind one of Gold Coast’s most loved weekly markets. This is a hands-on, people-first leadership role for someone who thrives in evolving environments and enjoys building genuine connections with both vendors and the community. If you're currently in hospitality, events, or a customer-focused role and looking for your next career step with more ownership, flexibility, and impact — this could be it.

In this role, you will:

· Oversee all aspects of market operations, including site setup, stallholder arrivals and allocations, customer flow, safety, and end-of-day bump-out — ensuring the entire day runs smoothly and professionally.

· Lead and support a small on-site team, providing clear guidance, troubleshooting issues in real-time, and fostering a proactive, solutions-focused work culture.

· Coordinate stallholder applications, weekly allocations, and market layouts, ensuring a well-balanced site plan and vendor mix that supports business success and customer satisfaction.

· Build and maintain strong relationships with over 100 stallholders, acting as their key contact and champion for feedback, support, and long-term engagement.

· Manage key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including local businesses, council representatives, site partners, and suppliers — ensuring smooth collaboration and open communication at all times.

· Deliver exceptional customer service to both vendors and the public, representing the market brand with professionalism and a welcoming approach.

· Work closely with our internal marketing team, contributing ideas, vendor stories, and community highlights to promote the market through social media and campaigns.

· Support the planning and delivery of seasonal and twilight events, working in collaboration with our events and operations teams to manage logistics and onsite coordination.

· Complete essential administrative tasks throughout the week, including market planning, reporting, emails, and scheduling — with the flexibility to work remotely or from our Fortitude Valley office.

Note: The role requires early starts on Sundays (from 3:00am) and physical presence on site for approximately 10 hours on market day.

The Ideal Candidate:

We’re looking for someone who:

Is comfortable with early starts, enjoys working outdoors, and is physically fit for a fast-paced, active role.

Is a natural people-person who genuinely enjoys interacting with diverse individuals — stallholders, customers, team members, and stakeholders.

Brings confidence, honesty, and common sense, with a calm and positive presence when things get busy.

Is highly organised, detail-oriented, and quick to take action — problem-solving is a huge part of this role.

Can juggle stallholder requests, resolve on-the-spot issues, and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

Is confident in customer service, and also comfortable managing emails, phone calls, and allocations during the week.

Doesn’t mind a bit of physical work and thrives in an ever-changing environment where no two days (or Sundays) are the same.

Appreciates a vibrant lifestyle and probably already has a few favourite local markets of their own.

Skills & Experience:

2+ years in a leadership or management role, ideally in events, hospitality, retail, or venue operations

Strong Customer service experience. This role will involve taking calls and assisting our customers with a varied range of questions

Ability to identify problems and seek fast solutions

Computer literacy is required, including database management

What We Offer:

$80k + Superannuation + KPI (based on a 30-hour work week)

Weekly performance based KPIs

Flexibility with a mix of remote work and in-office support and 1 day a week onsite at the market

A respected and rewarding career with one of Queensland’s leading event operators

Genuine career progression opportunities for the right candidate

To Apply:

Please submit your CV and a brief cover letter (be sure to creatively include the words “gold fish” somewhere in your response, we won’t miss it). Applications without a cover letter will not be considered.
