Role: Principal Data Migration Lead
Employment Type: Temporary Opportunity, duration 24 months
Location: Sydney CBD, flexible working arrangements available
This role sits within the Systems Capability Directorate of Government Technology Platforms
About the team
You will lead a dedicated team of Data Engineers driving a critical data migration initiative as part of a high-impact enterprise program. Collaborating closely with key stakeholders, this team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the program.
Your day-to-day·
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers towards success of the data migration program.
- Manage the data migration program by ensuring successful and timely delivery.
- Engage with Stakeholders including regulatory business users to define data migration requirements and scope.
- Organize and lead workshops to align on data migration requirements, strategies, and source-to-target mapping.
- Gain a thorough understanding of the Siebel CRM system or any other source system involved in the new license schemes.
- Define and finalize the rules for transforming GLS data fields to the target i.e. Amanda system.
- Create detailed scope documents for each scheme and obtain necessary approvals
- Understand the GLS and Amanda systems from a data migration requirements perspective and contribute to GLS-to-Amanda mapping workshops.
- Perform data profiling and support regulatory user data analysis.
- Devise and implement data enrichment and remediation solutions.
- Develop and document functional and technical specifications.
- Devise and implement the required data transformations from the GLS system to the Amanda operational system.
- Develop technical and business reconciliation procedures as per the data migration ETL framework.
- Execute data migration scripts for trial migrations, dress rehearsals, and production migration.
- Write SQL scripts to reconcile data between GLS and Amanda systems and generate reports.
- Oversee trial migrations and communicate results and expectations with stakeholders.
- Verify that the data has been correctly migrated by checking it in the Amanda user interface.
- Work with key users and stakeholders to identify and resolve data issues and script defects.
- Perform in-depth data analysis on defects and patterns surfaced during cutover, parallel/equivalence testing, undertaking root cause analysis, and articulating findings to the affected stakeholders.
- Track, analyse, and resolve any defects that arise during the migration process.
- Provide post-migration support, including analysing and resolving defects by fixing data in the Amanda system.
- Attend all meetings to provide expertise and provide status updates on a regular basis.
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Experience in leading and managing a data migration project.
- Solid understanding of database models.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud framework, Azure Data Factory for ETL Data Integration pipelines, Azure SQL Managed Instances, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
- Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is preferred.
- Ability to write complex SQL code and queries.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
- Experience in SAFe, Agile delivery approach and methodology.
- Ability to work under tight schedules and manage multiple tasks.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail and a meticulous approach to work.
- Experience in the regulatory licensing domain would be considered an advantage.
- Knowledge of Siebel and Amanda Data models would be considered an advantage.
Salary Grade 11/12, with the base salary for this role starting at 149,739 base plus superannuation
