Chapter Lead - Deceased Estates & Authorities (Workflow Engineering, PEGA, Full-Stack, DevSecOps)

Lead with empathy. Engineer with purpose. Transform critical life moments with technology.

We're looking for a hands-on Chapter Lead to grow and guide our engineering capability across the Deceased Estates and Authorities journeys. This role is ideal for a seasoned technical leader who thrives on building workflow-driven solutions, fostering engineering maturity, and enabling teams to deliver secure, scalable, and human-centred services.

See yourself in our team:

As a Chapter Lead in the Everyday Banking Domain, you'll lead a community of engineers supporting the E2E Service Journey crew-specifically focused on Deceased Estates and Authorities. These journeys are deeply personal and operationally complex, requiring thoughtful design, robust systems, and seamless orchestration across channels and teams.

You'll play a key role in shaping the engineering culture, driving DevSecOps maturity, and embedding full-cycle engineering practices across squads. You'll also lead the evolution of our workflow platforms-particularly PEGA-to ensure we deliver resilient, compliant, and compassionate customer experiences.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the Chapter: Coach and mentor engineers across squads, fostering a high-performance culture grounded in psychological safety, inclusion, and continuous learning.
  • Be Technically Hands-On: Contribute to architecture, design, and development of workflow-based solutions. Lead by example in coding, reviewing, and deploying high-quality software.
  • Champion Workflow Engineering: Drive best practices in workflow design, orchestration, and automation-especially using PEGA and related tooling.
  • Advance Engineering Maturity: Embed full-cycle engineering, DevSecOps, and test automation practices. Set the standard for engineering excellence.
  • Shape Technical Direction: Collaborate with product and platform leads to influence architecture, design patterns, and tooling strategies-especially in workflow and case management domains.
  • Grow Capability: Identify skill gaps, lead hiring efforts, and support career development pathways for engineers in your chapter.
  • Foster Collaboration: Build strong relationships across squads, domains, and business units to align on shared goals and deliver value at scale.
  • Embed Risk Mindset: Promote secure-by-design principles and ensure compliance with cloud security, data governance, and regulatory obligations.

What you bring:

  • Proven leadership experience in engineering teams, ideally in a Chapter Lead or Principal Engineer role.
  • Deep expertise in software engineering, with hands-on experience in workflow platforms (especially PEGA), full-stack development, and DevSecOps.
  • Strong understanding of case management, orchestration, and automation in regulated environments.
  • Passion for coaching, mentoring, and growing diverse engineering talent.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A growth mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Technical environment:

You'll be expected to work closely with engineers and contribute directly to the codebase. Familiarity and experience with the following will set you up for success:

  • Languages & Frameworks: C#, .NET Core, REST APIs, microservices, containerization, React, Next.js
  • Workflow & Case Management software: BPMN & workflow orchestration tools (e.g. PEGA, Appian) knowledge desirable, but not essential.
  • Cloud & DevOps: AWS, Azure, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
  • Observability: Observe, Obstack
  • Security: Identity management, encryption, and cloud security best practices
  • Data: Relational (Postgres, Oracle), NoSQL (MongoDB), data lakes and real-time pipelines

We operate in a hybrid working environment, meaning a blend between being in the office and working remote.
