We’re on the lookout for a Digital Services Officer to join our ACT Emergency Services (ESA) Digital Services team. If you're someone who enjoys working across graphic design, web development, and cloud platforms—and you love solving problems and collaborating with others—this could be the perfect fit.
You will be supporting the Assistant Director to keep our digital platforms running smoothly, from SharePoint and web hosting to other business applications. It’s a hands-on role with plenty of variety and opportunities to make a real impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing eye-catching materials like posters, flyers, infographics, and web graphics using Adobe tools.
- Working with stakeholders to understand their needs and bring their ideas to life.
- Building and maintaining internal and external web pages that are accessible and user-friendly.
- Running training sessions and helping users get the most out of our digital tools.
- Collaborating with teams across ACT Government and external vendors.
- Contributing to projects and offering your expertise on business systems.
- Developing and upgrading systems using modern web technologies.
- Managing our cloud hosting platforms.
- Exploring new tech and finding ways to boost productivity.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong graphic design skills using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
- Experience creating interactive PDF forms.
- Solid web development skills (.NET, PHP, ReactJS, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, JSON).
- Basic knowledge of databases and SQL.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Understanding of project management and software development lifecycle.

The occupant of this position may be required to undertake part of their duties outside of normal business hours and on weekends in response to incidents of any nature.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
- To be eligible for permanent or temporary employment within the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) you must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident or hold a valid work visa.
- Driver’s licence Class C is essential.
- This position does not require a pre-employment medical.
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra (act.gov.au)
- Experience with Drupal CMS is highly desirable.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or Graphic Design is highly desirable.
- Experience in designing SharePoint Online systems or willingness to understand the concepts and learn Microsoft SharePoint Online and other Microsoft 0365 service offerings including but not limited to Planner, Forms and Power Automate is highly desirable.
- Understanding of web accessibility standards or willingness to learn WCAG2.2 is highly desirable.
