About Me
Hello! I am a 71 year old Man with Cerebral Palsy, Schizophrenia and Dysphagia, requiring modified meals. I am looking for a friendly Support Worker to assist me in achieving my NDIS goals. I like to stay at home, relax and talk to staff about my life. I also love to sing!
The Role
An opportunity is available to join my team of wonderful support workers who help to facilitate my daily life. My support workers assist me on a 3 to 1 and a 1 to 1 basis throughout the day.
Due to some of the challenges I face, I can get frustrated when I feel I am not understood. In this instance I would like you to listen to me and then give me some space.
I am seeking a Support Worker who is wanting to join a team environment, passionate about family and helping me to engage with mine, as well as happy to take me shopping and attending my doctor’s appointments.
As my Support Worker, your key responsibilities will include:
Assisting me with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
Personal care support
Manual handling (Level 3)
Engaging me in arts, cooking, and home activities
Supporting me in achieving my personal goals
Facilitating my life skill development through structured programs
Providing person-centred active support
Keeping accurate records to ensure best practice care
Shifts Available
I am looking for someone to support me on a CASUAL basis with the potential to move to Permanent Part Time basis.
The ideal candidate will have:
NDIS Worker Screening or DHS Disability related check
Current Driver's Licence
Current First Aid & CPR Certificates
Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability/Aged Care) or other relevant qualification
Dysphagia
Manual Handling Level 3
About you:
I am looking for someone with clear communication, and a creative and positive person to join my team. A good match for me would be someone who has an efficient and confident approach in what they do and possesses a calm and patient nature. A good sense of humour is also important.
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience in working with people who have experience with dysphagia, communication difficulties.
Ability to implement individualised developmental programs.
Experience implementing positive behaviour support strategies.
Flexible working hours
Experience in various models of support preferred.
Ability to adapt quickly to changes in service delivery.
