We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated NDIS Support Worker to join our team in Riverland, South Australia. In this role, you will work directly with individuals with disabilities, empowering them to live independently, achieve their goals, and engage in the community. You will provide personalized support that aligns with the values of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), focusing on choice, control, and inclusion. The successful candidate will be dedicated to supporting individuals in their day-to-day activities, including personal care, community participation, goal achievement, and attending appointments.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide support with daily living tasks, including domestic chores and meal preparation.
Assist in the development of skills aimed at fostering greater independence.
Enable access to community activities, including appointments, social outings, and recreational pursuits.
Support participants with transportation, personal care, and engaging in social interactions.
Guide participants in setting and achieving their personal goals.
Maintain thorough and accurate records of participant interactions and the services provided.
Essential Requirements
Person-Centred Support: Dedicated to delivering person-centred, individualised care and support, ensuring the unique needs of each person with a disability are met within their home environment.
Effective Communication: Strong interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to communicate with empathy, respect, and clarity across a diverse range of individuals, including clients, families, and team members.
Autonomous and Compassionate: Able to work autonomously, using initiative and demonstrating a calm, empathetic approach, particularly in challenging or stressful situations.
Flexibility & Availability: Willingness and flexibility to work a 7 day roster, including shift work, weekends, and public holidays to ensure continuous care and support.
Desirable Qualifications
Relevant Qualifications: Holding a qualification in Individualised Support, Disability, Mental Health, or a related field.
Knowledge of NDIS Framework: A solid understanding of NDIS restrictive practices legislation and experience with positive behaviour support strategies to foster a safe and supportive environment.
Client-Centered Approach: Strong knowledge of working within a person-centered framework, focusing on empowering clients to make their own decisions and lead fulfilling lives.
Special Conditions
Work Rights: Full working rights in Australia, with the ability to legally work and support clients.
Transport: Current South Australian driver’s licence with access to a reliable vehicle for transporting clients to appointments and community activities as required.
Clearances: DHS Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and a National Police Check, ensuring the safety and welfare of vulnerable individuals.
First Aid Certification: Valid First Aid certification (HLTAID003 or HLTAID011), ensuring you are equipped to respond to emergencies and provide essential care when needed.
