About Me
Hello! I am a 57-year-old female with Acquired Brain Injury, psychosocial disability and mild intellectual disability. I am looking for friendly Support Workers to assist me in achieving my NDIS goals. I would like supports to follow my medication regime, book and attend appointments, transport assistance to complete my grocery shopping, assist me with some cleaning tasks, engage in activities of my liking and support me to regulate my emotions with guidance from my allied health team.
The Role
An Opportunity is available to join my team of wonderful support workers who help to facilitate my daily life. My support workers assist me on a 1:1 support ratio with passive overnights and some unsupported hours throughout the day. My disabilities mean that I can be verbally aggressive and abusive towards staff when I am escalated, and my workers are able to leave me to settle and re-engage with me when at baseline. There is a room in my home for workers to use and sleep overnight.
I am seeking a Support Worker who is wanting to join a team environment, passionate about hair and beauty, fashion, healthy eating and playing Uno. An Italian background is a bonus, but not essential.
Key responsibilities:
Assist with Medication
Household cleaning tasks
In home activities such as playing Uno
Support me to achieve my goals to reach my potential in all facets of my life.
Support my life skill development through proper implementation of established plans and programs to support the achievement of goal outcomes for me.
Actively engage in person centred active support.
Maintain accurate records.
Shifts
I am looking for someone to support me on a casual basis.
My shifts are generally but not limited to full time support on weekends, and during weekdays, a morning shift, followed by time unsupported, and then support commencing at 1:00pm until a passive overnight. My team will share the Passive Overnight Support across all workers
The ideal candidate will have:
NDIS Worker Screening or DHS Disability related check
Current Driver's License
Current First Aid Certificate
Current CPR
Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability/Aged Care) or other relevant qualification
Manual Handling Level 2
About you:
I am looking for a confident and positive person who is adaptable to my changing needs to join my team. A good match for me would be someone who has an efficient and confident approach in what they do and possesses a calm, patient and resilient nature. Experience working with psychosocial disabilities will be an advantage.
Other requirements:
Experience in working with people with high behaviours of concern’s
Ability to implement individualized developmental programs.
Experience implementing positive behaviour support strategies.
Flexible working hours
Experience in various models of support preferred.
Ability to adapt quickly to changes in service delivery.
