The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Financial Data Analyst to provide a critical role within Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination
About the Business Unit
The FAS represents a major leap forward in government's response to victims of crime. Established under the Victims of Crime (Financial Assistance Scheme) Act 2022, the FAS provides financial assistance through a simple and easy to navigate process that is fair, sensitive, and responsive to victims' needs. The FAS aims to acknowledge harm done and be trauma informed, inclusive and culturally safe.
About the Role
You will identify reporting needs for the FAS and undertake scoping activities for various data, analysis and reporting requests.
Contribute to the exploration and development of contemporary digital information management architectures to support data capture and retrieval requirements, ensuring compliance with WoVG policy and legislation. While improving design and develop reports and dashboards for sharing with end users, using a variety of design tools, including Microsoft Excel, Power BI and Oracle BI.
Some of your duties will include:
- Use SQL programming language for data extraction to respond to scheduled and ad hoc reporting requests.
- Interrogate and manipulate a variety of large data sets, including data sourced from the Zycus contract management system, Oracle Financials, and Salesforce.
- Extract, interpret and manipulate data in different formats, for the purpose of identifying trends and opportunities.
- Support the Payments team in reconciliation, financial accounting and processing of payments.
- Support in providing information for internal and external audits and independent review

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Technical Expertise
- Experience in conducting data analysis on financial data within a government context
- Experience utilising analytics systems and tools to gather, process, analyse and interpret data
Qualifications
- Hold a tertiary qualification(s) in commerce, finance or a related discipline.
- Relevant certifications in Data Analysis will be an advantage.
