At Weilan Construction we are a family-owned construction business, known for delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. Our team is hands on and dedicated to excellence, and as a result of our growth we are now looking for a Senior Accountant to join our finance team in a part time basis (16-20 hours per week) supporting the owner in driving financial integrity and supporting operational success.

Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant will oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance functions. You will be a strategic partner to project managers and leadership, ensuring accurate cost tracking, project profitability analysis, and timely financial reporting

Key Responsibilities:

Manage general ledger accounting and month-end/year-end closing processes, including managing the current accounts person

Prepare and analyse job cost reports and project budgets

Perform variance analysis between actual and estimated job costs

Track retention payments and progress claims

Ensure compliance with accounting standards and prepare statutory lodgements such as BAS, PAYG etc…

Manage cashflow payments and forecasting

Prepare financial statements, management reports, and ad hoc analysis

Assist with external accountants and regulatory reporting

Support ERP/accounting system improvements

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)

Minimum 5–7 years of accounting experience, with experience in the construction industry a bonus

Strong understanding of job costing and revenue recognition

Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in financial analysis

Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills
