Diabetes WA is a leading not-for-profit health organisation dedicated to providing support, education, and programs to thousands of Western Australians at risk of or affected by diabetes. The Role:

We are currently seeking a Diabetes Educator to join our innovative and multi-disciplinary Diabetes Education team. You will be responsible for providing diabetes education services to a diverse group of clients to help them live well with diabetes.

Position Details:

Type: Part-time parental leave contract working 3 days per week (0.6 FTE), with a preference for availability on Fridays.

Contract dates: This role will be for an initial period of 12 months, with the potential to extend depending on the incumbent’s period of parental leave.

Salary: Starting at $55,484 ($92,474 full time equivalent salary) plus superannuation.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Deliver a range of diabetes education services and programs, including structured self-management group programs and individual consultations in person and via telehealth.

Display a client-centred philosophy of care to meet the needs of the diabetes population.

Provide high quality training and development services to health professionals, workplaces and schools.

Attend community presentations, forums, conferences, expos and other events, representing Diabetes WA and delivering presentations and consultations.

Complete program evaluation, self-reflection and review projects, identifying and implementing opportunities for program improvement and the development of new programs.

Some flexibility is required for the delivery of programs and services on evenings and weekends, with occasional rural/regional travel.

Ideal candidates will have (Selection Criteria):

Successful completion of a Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education and Management

Eligibility for membership with Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA) as a Diabetes Educator

Registration as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist /Registered Pharmacist /Accredited Practising Dietitian /Registered Nurse.

Specialist knowledge of diabetes and familiarity with person-centred care models.

Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including reporting, public speaking and presentations.

The availability and flexibility to work and travel non-standard hours.

Credentialed Diabetes Educator (CDE) status or working towards CDE status is desirable.

A sound understanding of current diabetes technologies and clinical software is desirable.
