Role Overview

The Senior Cloud Infrastructure & Security Engineer will design, implement, and manage secure, high-performing cloud and hybrid infrastructure solutions for Oreta’s customers. This role combines deep expertise in cloud infrastructure (Azure, Microsoft 365, VMware, on-prem, hybrid) with strong skills in Microsoft-centric security (Defender Suite, Sentinel, Purview), ensuring our customers achieve resilient, scalable, and compliant environments.

You will work across professional services projects and support ongoing managed service engagements, acting as a trusted technical expert for our customers’ infrastructure and security needs.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud & Infrastructure Delivery

Lead the design and deployment of Azure, Microsoft 365, VMware, and hybrid infrastructure solutions for customers.

Deliver cloud migration, modernisation, and integration projects.

Implement and manage virtual networks, compute, storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions (Azure, VMware, Veeam).

Configure and optimise Intune for multi-platform endpoint lifecycle management.

Develop infrastructure-as-code and automation solutions (PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform) to streamline deployments.

Security Delivery

Deploy and configure the Microsoft Defender Suite (Endpoint, Office 365, Identity, Cloud Apps) for customers.

Implement Microsoft Sentinel SIEM and SOAR solutions, including custom analytics rules, connectors, and automation playbooks.

Configure Microsoft Purview for DLP, information protection, insider risk management, and compliance reporting.

Perform threat modelling, attack surface reviews, and security hardening of customer environments.

Operational & Support Responsibilities

Provide Level 3/4 escalation support for customer infrastructure and security incidents.

Work closely with Oreta’s SOC for incident investigation, threat hunting, and remediation.

Conduct proactive health checks, patch management, and performance tuning for infrastructure and security platforms.

Maintain accurate documentation, runbooks, and change management records.

Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of technical standards.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years in infrastructure engineering with strong exposure to Azure, Microsoft 365, and VMware.

Proven track record in delivering Microsoft security solutions (Defender Suite, Sentinel, Purview) to enterprise customers.

Expertise in networking, identity & access management (Entra ID, Conditional Access), and hybrid Active Directory.

Strong experience with Intune endpoint management and Autopilot deployment.

Experience delivering backup and DR solutions (Veeam, native cloud recovery).

Customer-facing experience in both project delivery and operational support.

Relevant Microsoft and VMware certifications (Azure Administrator/Architect, Security Operations Analyst, VCP, or equivalent).
