Drafting Lead – Construction Engineering (Temporary Works)
Location: Sydney preferred (Melbourne considered)
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: Up to $180,000 Package
We’re seeking an experienced and hands-on National Drafter Lead to join our high-performing Construction Engineering team, delivering complex infrastructure projects across Australia. In this role, you’ll be 70–80% hands-on drafting while also providing national leadership, technical guidance, and mentoring to a talented drafting team. You’ll play a key part in shaping standards, improving workflows, and ensuring excellence in the delivery of temporary works design for major infrastructure builds. About the Role You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and construction teams to deliver innovative and practical temporary works solutions for a range of projects. Your work will include infrastructure builds such as metro stations, commercial facilities, and high-rise residential developments, bridges and more!
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a drafting team, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Manage resources to match the right people to the right projects, optimising for budget and time.
- Oversee quality control and audits to ensure compliance with client and project-specific drafting standards.
- Deliver high-quality 2D and 3D drafting for temporary works in construction engineering.
- Collaborate with engineers to develop practical, buildable solutions for challenging projects.
- Establish and maintain drafting standards and best practices nationally.
- Coordinate workloads, provide technical oversight, and support project delivery across multiple locations.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of large-scale transport and infrastructure projects.
Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience in temporary works drafting within infrastructure or commercial construction projects, such as metro stations, schools, hospitals, banks, and residential high-rises.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop team members while remaining actively hands-on.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
