About the Company
We are seeking a Property Services Specialist to join a local government council on a contract basis. This role plays a key part in managing the Council’s property portfolio, ensuring assets are effectively maintained, leased, acquired, and disposed of in line with strategic and financial objectives.
About the Role
- Manage Council’s property assets, including leasing, licensing, acquisition, and disposal of properties
- Deliver efficient and effective management of the property portfolio, protecting Council’s interests
- Provide accurate and consistent advice on property matters to internal stakeholders and external parties
- Develop, implement, and monitor strategies for effective asset management of Council properties
- Coordinate day-to-day property management activities and maintain the Tenancy Schedule and Land Register
- Negotiate leases, licences, sales, and other property-related transactions
- Liaise with Council staff, contractors, consultants, and external advisors to achieve property objectives
- Support the preparation of budgets and financial performance targets for the property portfolio
- Manage compulsory acquisitions of Council property in accordance with relevant legislation
- Prepare reports to Council and represent the organisation at external forums, working groups, and committees
- Provide support to the Coordinator Property and Manager Governance and Property Services as required
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in property services, asset management, or a similar role
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of property legislation, leasing, and acquisition/disposal processes
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in local government property management desirable
