About the role
As Senior Waste Policy Officer within the Waste and Resource Recovery business unit you will:
- Help ensure the successful implementation of the Waste and Resource Recovery Act 2022.
- Contribute to policy development to facilitate waste industry reform and landfill levy implementation.
- Liaise and provide advice to stakeholders and the community.
- Conduct work on waste management and resource recovery sites throughout the state.
This is a permanent position based in Hobart, Launceston or Devonport (to be negotiated).

Our ideal candidate has
- Significant knowledge and experience in waste management.
- High level communication and interpersonal skills including consultation and conflict resolution.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Has a passion for sustainability and is familiar with Tasmania’s waste and circular economy landscape.
- A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
- A Degree in science, engineering, sustainability, business or equivalent.
