About the role

As Senior Waste Policy Officer within the Waste and Resource Recovery business unit you will:

  • Help ensure the successful implementation of the Waste and Resource Recovery Act 2022.
  • Contribute to policy development to facilitate waste industry reform and landfill levy implementation.
  • Liaise and provide advice to stakeholders and the community.
  • Conduct work on waste management and resource recovery sites throughout the state.

This is a permanent position based in Hobart, Launceston or Devonport (to be negotiated).

Our ideal candidate has

  • Significant knowledge and experience in waste management.
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills including consultation and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Has a passion for sustainability and is familiar with Tasmania’s waste and circular economy landscape.
  • A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
  • A Degree in science, engineering, sustainability, business or equivalent.
