In collaboration with key personnel, the Course Coordinator will contribute to the management and coordination of one of CIHE’s Community Services and Social Work courses, services to students, and effectiveness in learning, teaching, and assessment practices. This is a line management position, and you will have a team of Academic Staff accountable to you.

Your fundamental objective is to lead the delivery of CIHE’s courses within the Social Services discipline and quality assure the effectiveness of the learning and teaching environment. You will also be engaged in the following activities:

Teaching as directed, including the planning, preparation and delivery of educational activities that facilitate active learning experiences and student engagement, including duties as a Lecturer in Charge of classes.

Contribute to the management, growth and development of CIHE by participating actively in the committee structure of CIHE.

Support the Executive Dean, Deputy Dean and Associate Deans to lead curriculum development within the discipline, including course review, improvement, and renewal of courses, administer course accreditation processes and help position CIHE as a quality assured higher education provider.

Create a rewarding, collegial and cooperative work environment for all educators and academic support staff and an engaging and dynamic learning environment for students.

Ensure that academic policies are implemented, regularly monitored, reviewed and improved.

Monitor the quality and adequacy of learning resources, infrastructure, and support systems to facilitate for students the achievement of course and subject learning outcomes.

Implement strategies to enhance the student experience, pastoral care, student success and retention.

Maintain personal currency through membership of ACWA/AASWA/CWA through and engagement in research and scholarly activity that produces scholarly publication outcomes.

Develop a personal research program in Learning and Teaching, the Discipline being coordinated or a combination of the two areas.

Selection Criteria

The following selection criteria are essential to this role:

Academic and Professional Standing

Demonstrated record of personal initiative to seek responsibility for educational leadership functions.

Knowledge of professional and industry issues and trends in the core discipline areas of CIHE.

Membership or eligibility for membership in the AASW/CWA.

Acknowledged strong record of professional social work experience and expertise of at least three years.

A recognised record of scholarship and research, with an ongoing profile of research and publications in social work.

A record of excellent teaching, which will usually be demonstrated in the application by attachment of a complete set of student evaluations from a recent year.

Qualifications

Doctorate in Community Services or Social Work or a related field

Management experience

Demonstrated academic coordination experience.

Demonstrated experience in the implementation of strategies that will promote excellence in all areas of CIHE including an effective learning work environment.
