The Associate Director, International Network Liaison will lead project coordination and stakeholder engagement activities that support the successful operations of NSW's international network. This role plays a key part in helping the NSW Government meet trade, investment, and economic goals, driving outcomes that benefit businesses and communities throughout the state.

About the Role

As the Associate Director, International Network Liaison, you will join the Trade and International branch in the Investment NSW group.

You will be responsible for building strong working relationships across internal departments and with key external stakeholders such as Austrade, DFAT, and Destination NSW. With a focus on compliance, risk mitigation, and operational excellence, the Associate Director ensures that all offshore activities align with NSW Government policies, local regulations in international jurisdictions, and strategic business objectives.

Working across a wide scope of functional areas including finance, legal, HR, governance, IT, and property, the role ensures international offices are fully equipped, compliant, and well-supported. You'll also oversee the implementation of frameworks and reporting mechanisms to monitor the network's operations, support issue resolution, and contribute to strategic initiatives through high-level briefings and advice to senior executives and Ministers.

We're Looking For

  • Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with key government and external stakeholders, including oversight of formal agreements and coordination of support for international staff.
  • Governance, Risk and Compliance: Proven experience in establishing and maintaining governance frameworks, risk management processes, and compliance reporting for international operations.
  • Cross-functional Coordination and Liaison: Ability to coordinate with multiple corporate functions (e.g., Finance, Legal, ICT, People & Culture) to support international offices and ensure alignment with policies and procedures.
  • Strategic Communication and Awareness Building: Capacity to drive awareness of international operations across government and implement effective communication processes to support internal and external stakeholders.
  • Operational Planning and Issue Management: Strong capability in resolving emerging issues, contributing to strategic projects, preparing ministerial briefings, and ensuring efficient administrative systems are in place to support international operations.
