IGS Early Learners is a near-new purpose built long day care centre and kindergarten service, catering for boys and girls from 6 weeks old to Pre-Prep.

Operated by Ipswich Grammar School, the centre opened in January 2024. We provide exceptional care, a specialist kindergarten programs and a nurturing environment that allows children to be supported and fostered in their growth and development.

The role of Cook will be responsible to:

Prepare a daily breakfast bar, prepare and serve meals and snacks for up to 100 children per day;

Adhere to the food safety standards at all times;

Ordering meals and monitoring supplies;

Catering for children with allergies and special / cultural food requirements;

Providing children, families and educators with up to date nutritional information;

Maintain cleanliness throughout food preparation and eating areas; and

Undertake general tasks to contribute to the overall operation of the centre.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for a role, you will hold:

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an ACECQA approved Early Childhood qualification and interest or experience in a cook role;

Understanding of early childhood nutrition, dietary guidelines, health and hygiene of a kitchen as per regulatory and guidelines;

Ability to complete duties in accordance with the Food Safety Program; and

Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to complete online training).

As a condition of employment, all staff are required to hold a valid Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and are required to maintain their Blue Card for the duration of employment. In addition, hold a current First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Asthma and Anaphylaxis Qualification.
