This privately owned agribusiness is heavily investing in the future of Australian horticulture. At their Carrathool property, they’re transitioning from cotton to large-scale almond production, supported by modern infrastructure and a genuine focus on sustainability.

The orchard currently spans 383ha of almonds, with another 260ha scheduled for planting in late 2025. Their long-term goal is to develop a 1,100ha orchard within the next 3-4 years. Ideally located along the Murrumbidgee River with secure water access, the property is just under an hour west of Griffith.

The Role

As Assistant Farm Manager, you’ll work closely with the Farm Manager to lead day-to-day orchard operations. Your focus will range from irrigation to team leadership and machinery upkeep.

This is a varied role with clear exposure to planning and decision-making. You’ll step up during critical periods like harvest (February to April), taking the lead in managing workloads, staff coordination, and daily logistics.

This isn’t a sit-behind-the-desk job. You’ll be on the ground, supporting the team, solving problems, and making decisions that help drive the orchard forward.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise orchard operations, including irrigation, spraying, pruning, and machinery maintenance.
• Coordinate and manage seasonal workforces during harvest and spraying programs.
• Guide and mentor the team, supporting skill development and accountability.
• Manage orchard logistics, inventory, and assist with planning, budgeting, and farm reporting.
• Uphold WHS, myBMP, and QA compliance across daily tasks and seasonal programs.
• Conduct toolbox meetings, pre-start checks, and keep operational records on track.

What You Bring

We’re after a practical, hands-on leader who’s ready to step up and own the role

• Practical farm experience – preferably within tree cropping or intensive cropping.
• Solid people skills, with the ability to build a cohesive, productive team.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with farm machinery.
• A proactive mindset – you’re comfortable making decisions and solving problems in real time.
• Flexibility to work longer hours during harvest and night spraying.

• Salary: $90k - $130k + Super, negotiable based on experience.
• Housing: Family home provided in Carrathool (available from 1 October). Note that modern single accommodation is available prior to this.
