Aboriginality
NSW Aboriginal Tourism Operators Council (NATOC) is an alliance of existing NSW Traditional Owner Aboriginal tourism operators representing Aboriginal tourism and visitor experience businesses that base their offer in their Country, celebrating and sharing their culture - in and on Country.
The NATOC Executive Officer will provide support to the Board who collectively oversee the high level cultural and business objectives of the organisation. The right candidate will be responsible for working with the Board to establish and implement NATOC’s growth strategy which includes the setting up of NATOC’s operational arm. They will be responsible for implementing organisational strategies and developing policies and procedures in line with NATOC’s cultural and business objectives. They will develop and manage a membership engagement strategy, foster strong partnerships with community, government and industry stakeholders and will oversee the delivery of finance and information technology functions. For day-to-day supervision the Executive Officer will work with the Chairperson.
Essential Skills
· Aboriginality including demonstrated ability to work effectively with Aboriginal stakeholders on land and sensitive culture-based issues. (Note that this is a genuine Aboriginal position as defined by Section 14 of the NSW Anti Discrimination Act 1977).
· A demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders at a senior level across government, community including external communications and official engagements.
· Demonstrated ability to work under the direction of a Board and to lead the development and implementation of strategies, policies and procedures.
· Demonstrated ability to develop and implement communications and stakeholder engagement strategies.
· Demonstrated ability to operationally manage finances and information technology for a small organisation.
· Demonstrated project management skills.
· Ability to apply high level organisational governance to organisations including the operation of Boards of Directors and adherence to statutory corporate requirements under relevant legislation.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Unrestricted Class C Driver’s license.
Desirable Skills
· Understanding of and the ability to develop a program of quality assurance.
· Understanding of the tourism industry, particularly Government and industry networks.
· Knowledge of Aboriginal tourism development issues, opportunities, and trends.
· Experience working with or within membership-based organisations, including stakeholder engagement and member services.
