The Role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our team to support a project focused on clearing a backlog of payroll tickets. This role requires someone confident working in a high-volume payroll environment, with strong attention to detail and the ability to navigate complex payroll issues - particularly around backpay calculations, leave audits, and compliance with awards.

Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day payroll queries via JIRA, ensuring timely and accurate resolutions
• Review, improve, and help implement payroll documentation and workflows
• Maintain accurate employee data to support smooth payroll processing
• Promote a culture of responsiveness, confidentiality, and accuracy in all payroll activities
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and support audit processes by supplying required payroll data and documentation
• Assist the Payroll Team Lead

Your Skills & Experience

• Experience in high-volume payroll processing
• Strong knowledge of award interpretation
• Experience using systems such as Micropay, iChris, Chris21, Cronos or similar HRIS/payroll systems (preferred)
• Familiarity with JIRA or other issue-tracking platforms
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
• Proven ability to manage sensitive information with discretion
