Are you an experienced business services senior accountant looking for more flexibility and autonomy?

Mackenzie + Partners Advisory is a boutique firm and has grown quickly in the last few years. We started as a pure outsourced CFO and advisory firm and in response to significant demand, we now offer our clients a full suite of services across accounting and tax compliance/advisory, as well as our core outsourced CFO services. The firm's principal is Big-4 trained, with many years experience as a CFO in large and complex businesses. Our clients are successful private business owners looking to grow, and they look to us for much more than just getting their tax returns done.

You'll be integral to the growth of our accounting and tax practice. You'll get the opportunity to shape the way we do things rather than being bogged down in old processes and ways of doing things, and clunky old software. We're investing in our business to make sure we're a great place to work, and so we can deliver our clients a premium service.

The role is part time, around 20-30 hours/week but with flexibility in total hours for the right candidate and plenty of potential to grow as we grow. We are 100% remote, however ideally you are based in Brisbane so we can meet as a team in person from time to time, and for client meetings. Balancing work and life is very important to us - we work hard to deliver the first class service our clients deserve, but you get to work in a way that suits you.

You might be looking to return to work after a break, or perhaps sick of the grind in a big firm. If you’ve got great experience but would prefer to be on the tools getting your hands dirty than managing people, this could be a perfect fit.

We could be a good match if you:

Have 4-5+ years Australian business services experience, including time at least at the senior accountant level

Can manage accounting and tax compliance jobs from start to finish

Can prepare financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, companies, and SMSFs

You might be CA/CPA qualified or working towards, but we care just as much about your skills and experience

Can manage your own time to work independently and prioritise tasks

Have strong skills in the Microsoft office suite, particularly Excel, and Xero, Practice Manager, and other accounting software (most of our clients use Xero)

Many of our clients are in the property and construction industry, so relevant experience would be a bonus!

Here’s what the role entails:

Prepare financial statements and income tax returns to review stage, including the preparation of detailed working papers for individuals, sole traders, companies, trusts, and SMSFs

Management accounting and strategic planning activities such as budgeting, forecasting, tax planning and business structuring

Prepare Business Activity Statements and state based tax returns such as payroll tax

Researching and consulting on a range of tax issues and drafting tax advice

Liaising with the ATO, OSR, clients, and other professionals to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks

Basically anything else our clients need help with!
