Intercultural Employment and Business Hub

Our Intercultural Employment and Business Hub supports work-ready migrants, refugees and international students to gain meaningful employment. The hub works with businesses and jobseekers throughout the employment journey.

The Employment Pathways & Mentor Coordinator is a position under our Diverse Queensland Workforce contract, proudly funded by Queensland Government.

Goal

To be a member of the TMSG team working in collaboration with TMSG’s Diverse Queensland Workforce partners and referrals. This position will have reporting obligations to the Program Manager related to the delivery of the Diverse Queensland Workforce contractual obligations.

The Employment Pathways & Mentor Coordinator position aims to work with the local refugee, migrant and CALD communities to access information, foundational training, up-skill training, education and all necessary supports to gain employment or open a small business.

This position will work with partners, training and education providers, employers and the local refugee and CALD communities to develop comprehensive and individualised support plans to assist individuals throughout the program. This includes access to identifying necessary support for individuals throughout training, work experience and employment, mentoring and supporting both the business employer and individual through a culturally appropriate induction, providing culturally sensitive referrals, and service navigation to external local networks.

Employment Pathways & Mentor Coordinator aims to build the knowledge, skills and employment pathways to increase and enable greater social and economic participation and contribution to the local community. The position reports to the TMSG Program Manager to ensure a wholistic approach to service support access.

Knowledge and Experience Requirements

Demonstrated high level experience working with individuals and families from local CALD communities from humanitarian backgrounds and local related networks and services.

Demonstrated ability to understand the barriers and systems that impact on people in local CALD communities living with high levels of stress, moderate, severe, complex and trauma related mental health conditions.

Demonstrated ability to assess local CALD Community members needs to document and develop a succinct, clear individual support management plan that includes referrals to Intercultural Employment and Business Hubs services, training and education providers, partners, employers and/or to external networks.

Demonstrated ability to work with local CALD people living high levels of stress, moderate, severe, complex and trauma related mental health conditions.

Demonstrated ability to manage high expectations of people seeking training and employment related support.

High level written and verbal English communication skills.

The ability to form and maintain effective professional relationships/networks with external service providers.

Demonstrated capacity to work according to contractual obligations as outlined in the Diverse Queensland Workforce contract.

Computer literacy, including proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products.

Desired

A tertiary degree/diploma in human services, education, community services, community development, education, employment, social work, business, social science, or psychology.

Ability to communicate in another language other than English

Tasks will include, but are not limited to:

To ensure participants are fully assessed of their needs and are delivered the information, foundation skills training, up-skill training and education, employment and support services in accordance with the individual support plan and framework as well as referred to other TMSG and external services to meet participants needs that may fall outside of the Diverse Queensland Workforce contractual requirements.

Work collaboratively with education and training provider, partners, referral partners and refugee and CALD community.

Provide culturally appropriate support and ongoing mentoring to both businesses (employers) and participant (prospective employees) including the assistance with; culturally responsive training, inductions, multicultural policies and protocols, significant cultural events.

To ensure all services are provided in an efficient and culturally sensitive and appropriate manner to meet Key Performance Indicators as required under the Diverse Queensland Workforce contract.

Support participants to meet employers administrative and certification requirements, including but not limited to: assistance with resumes, cover letters, applications for blue and yellow card.

To maintain specified administrative, procedural, compliance, reporting, and communication requirements as stated in the Diverse Queensland Workforce contract.

Communicate regularly with, build, and maintain collaborative networks and partnerships across the broader community, including attendance and active participation in community events.
