Why your role matters

The Advancement Special Events & Projects Manager is responsible for the hands-on design, management and delivery of high-profile events and initiatives that highlight the impact of philanthropy, engage alumni and prospective donors, express gratitude to existing donors, and honour senior stakeholders for their contribution to the University.

About the Role

This role manages all aspects of event production and special projects, background research, creation of written and audiovisual materials and the presentation of compelling narratives in innovative and creative ways. The position involves collaboration with high-profile alumni and donors, senior University officials, and colleagues within the Advancement team.

About You

You will be dynamic, highly experienced, and exceptionally organised Events & Communications specialist. More specifically you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Experience working in tertiary education, events, communications, media or the arts, and working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing high-profile events, delivering on all operational requirements and ensuring all aspects of the project are delivered on time, with efficient use of resources and risks mitigated.
  • Ability to develop and deliver diverse communication projects tailored to various audiences, utilising multiple channels including print, digital and video.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to build effective collaborative professional relationships and partnerships. High level of attention to detail and ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated understanding of marketing, publicity, communication and customer relationship management appropriate for delivering a high-quality events and projects within a complex environment.
  • Excellent organisation skills and proven ability to show initiative, think creatively and resolve issues.
