Uplift Recruitment has been exclusively engaged by a leading Australian business to find an experienced General Manager of Sales to lead one of their key divisions.
This newly created role sits at the intersection of strategy, performance and leadership. You’ll oversee a national sales function of around 150 people through a strong layer of Sales Managers and Team Leaders, while partnering closely with the senior leadership team to shape direction, improve conversion and support scalable growth.
This is not a granular, day-to-day operations role. It's suited to someone who thrives in a strategic leadership capacity, guiding people, processes and priorities from above, while still staying close enough to the numbers and culture to influence outcomes. Rolling up the sleeves will be necessary from time to time. Staying close to the action is critical in this role.

A snapshot of the role
- Provide leadership and direction to a national outbound sales operation, working through a team of Sales Managers and Team Leaders
- Drive strategy across sales, service and partnerships, with full P&L accountability
- Collaborate with Marketing, Product, Data and Operations to align on lead conversion, customer experience, dialler performance and incentive programs
- Build capability across the leadership layer, ensuring a high-performance culture with strong succession planning
- Represent the division at senior leadership level, contributing to cross-functional initiatives and long-term planning
- Maintain oversight of performance without needing to be in the detail of day-to-day sales floor activity
Who we’re looking for
- You’ve led large, multi-site sales operations in outbound environments (70+ seats), ideally in insurance, financial services or another regulated industry
- Ideally you have worked in a scaling business where creative thinking and managing a tighter budget was essential
- You have a track record of success working through leaders, not around them
- You bring strong commercial acumen, with P&L ownership experience and a data-informed mindset
- You’re a strategic operator who can zoom out to see the bigger picture, yet still influence daily rhythms through leadership and structure

- Location: Onsite in Melbourne or Brisbane
- Package: Circa $180K base + super + performance bonus (OTE ~$270k)
- Reports to: Executive General Manager
- Size of team: ~150 staff across Sales, Service and Partnerships
