- Base Salary HEO4 $83,038 p.a. + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
The School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) is seeking a Technical/Laboratory Assistant to provide technical support and research assistance in the laboratory. This role will assist in preparing the laboratory and assisting with experiments and practical's.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- provide technical support and research assistance to staff, students, researchers, and other technical staff in the laboratory
- prepare the laboratory for experiments, practical's, and tutorials in accordance with scientific protocols
- assist with experiments in collaboration with researchers, students, and/or other technical staff
- train staff, visitors, and students in the safe operation of laboratory equipment
- undertake or coordinate cleaning and sterilisation of laboratory items, materials, tools, and equipment
maintain laboratory supplies and equipment, including coordinating maintenance and repairs - assist with the safe and appropriate storage and disposal of hazardous substances
- support the maintenance of a clean and safe laboratory environment, compliant with health and safety requirements
- assist with the preparation of diverse scientific documentation and applications, including data collection and analysis.
About you:

- a bachelor's degree in Microbiology or related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and experience
- demonstrated experience using databases and statistical analysis programs
- demonstrated experience working in a laboratory, with experience implementing safety requirements and handling hazardous substances
- the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, taking initiative and exercising sound judgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work.
