About the role
Join our dynamic team as a full-time Composites Technician, where you'll play a vital role in the manufacturing, assembly, and production of advanced composite products for defence and civilian customers. Based in Geelong, you'll be part of a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality products and developing advanced manufacturing processes. Your responsibilities will include the fabrication, maintenance, and quality assurance of composite components, contributing to innovative solutions across various industries.
What you'll be doing
Fabricating composite parts and assemblies to specification using a variety of techniques such as lay-up, filament winding, and vacuum infusion
Preparing surfaces and applying primers, adhesives, and other materials as required
Operating specialised equipment and machinery to cut, trim, layup and finish composite components
Inspecting finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards
Maintaining detailed records and documentation of the manufacturing process
Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and product quality
Collaborating with the wider production team to deliver projects on time and to budget
What we're looking for
Minimum 2-3 years' experience working with composites or in a similar manufacturing role
Strong knowledge of composite materials, fabrication techniques, and quality control processes
Preference for trade certification (composites or fitting and turning)
Preference for the experience in CAD design
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions
Proficient in the use of specialised tools and equipment for composite fabrication
Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship
Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Relevant qualifications in composites technology, engineering, or a related field would be an advantage
Must be an Australian citizen and able to obtain/maintain relevant security clearance
Current driver's licence and forklift licence required
