About the position

We are seeking an experienced Academic Manager to ensure that training and assessment delivery meets high standards, adhering to relevant legislation and policies, including the ASQA Quality Framework, the ESOS Act, the National Code, CRICOS requirements, and Invicta's policies and procedures.

The academic manager will oversee overall academic operations, providing guidance and leadership to trainers, and take ownership of all academic issues to ensure that training and assessment are delivered to the required standards.

Tasks and responsibilities

Plan training and assessment sessions to ensure the required resources are available to support the delivery.

Contribute to the development of curriculum, teaching methods and resources, and learner assessment procedures.

Undertake vocational planning interviews with prospective learners to provide detailed information about the demands of training and assessment and to evaluate a person’s motivation and intent to pursue their desired career.

Provide guidance and assistance to staff on educational and administrative issues and career development and maintain staff relations conducive to a productive work environment.

Undertake own professional development activities to continue to develop competence and currency of skills and knowledge. Update professional development register to provide a true record of professional development activity.

Contribute to Invicta’s systematic approach to continuous improvement.

Coordinate Invicta’s assessment moderation and validation activities to maintain the alignment of assessment with industry expectations and training package requirements.

Contribute to the development of training and assessment materials including designing resources for the learning management system.

Monitor the online learning component of each qualification being delivered.

Liaise with the administration to coordinate the flow of documentation to ensure learner records and operational data is kept accurate and up to date.

Maintain compliance with the National Code of practice particularly in relation to Standard 8: Overseas Student visa requirements. This includes monitoring student progress, early intervention and intervention strategies, reporting for unsatisfactory progress and ensuring students complete the course within the expected duration.

Monitor and implement strategies to ensure ongoing compliance with the VET Quality Framework, including working with the external compliance officer

Supervising admin staff for student enrolment and maintainingthe student database

Conduct orientation and induction sessions

Skills and Experience

Certificate IV In Training and Assessment or higher-level qualification in adult education

At least 3 years of experience managing staff and trainers

Previous experience in a CRICOS-approved RTO environment is a must

Experience in student management systems and learning management systems

Knowledge of standards and legislation affecting Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), Australia Quality Authority (ASQA), and Australia Quality Framework (AQF)

Proven ability to organise work, meet deadlines and resolve problems with minimal supervision and coordinate projects where required.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook

Ability to work well in a team and also autonomously.
