Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Merchandise Planner to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving sales performance by optimising product assortments, managing inventory levels, and analysing sales data to forecast future trends.

Working closely with cross‑functional teams, you will ensure the right products are in the right place at the right time to maximise revenue and profitability.

3+ years' experience in a similar Planning role

Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.)

Ability to translate data into actionable insights

Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

Highly organised, fast-moving, and comfortable working autonomously

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Inventory Planning

Create pre-season merchandise financial plans by department/category/SKU.

Forecast sales, stock, markdowns, and gross margin.

Develop open-to-buy (OTB) budgets and manage in-season reforecasts.

Set and monitor inventory turn, sell-through, and weeks of supply.

Performance Analysis

Analyse sales performance and identify risks and opportunities.

Provide actionable insights to optimize range and stock levels.

Monitor and report on KPIs: sales, margin, stock cover, and stock flow.

Assortment & Range Planning

Implement strategies for product selection, pricing and placement to maximise sales profitability.

Develop assortment plans aligned with financial targets and customer needs.

Assist in planning product launches, seasonal buys, and exit strategies.

Balance breadth vs. depth in assortment across locations or channels.

Cross-functional Collaboration

Work closely with supply chain, logistics, marketing, and retail ops to align stock flow and promotional strategies.

Partner with eCommerce and retail teams to plan channel-specific forecasts.

Attend trade meetings and seasonal reviews to inform planning decisions.

Budgeting and Financial Planning

Contribute to the development of merchandise budgets and financial forecasts.

Align with overall business goals

System & Reporting Tools

Track Sales performance, inventory levels and other key metrics

Report on progress and identifying areas for improvement

Utilise planning systems to manage plans and data accuracy.

Maintain accurate product, pricing, and inventory data.

Automate and improve reporting dashboards.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Supply Chain, or related field.

2–5+ years of experience in merchandise or demand planning.

Strong analytical and numerical skills with advanced Excel proficiency.

Strong financial concepts and budgeting is important

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Highly detail-oriented, organized, and results-driven.

Commercial mindset with an understanding of customer buying behaviour.

Preferred Experience

Retail, eCommerce, or FMCG background.

Product knowledge & Market trends

Knowledge of financial metrics like GMROI, sell-through, margin return, etc
