A bit about the role

You will review landscape plans to ensure they align with masterplans and meet Council standards for liveability, practicality, and design.

What you’ll deliver

  • Assess and approve landscape plans and master plans for compliance with Council policies, guidelines, and standards.
  • Ensure landscape proposals align with approved masterplans and deliver high-quality, practical, and liveable outcomes.
  • Evaluate landscape applications and provide detailed feedback to developers, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Review construction issue landscape plans for compliance with industry best practices and relevant Australian standards
  • Assess street tree master plan and streetscape plans for species suitability, green infrastructure integration, and tree placement.
  • Collaborate with developers, landscape architects, and consultants to refine and improve landscape submissions.
  • Contribute to the development and review of internal landscaping policies and broader planning strategies.
  • Coordinate and process landscape planning referrals in line with state and local legislation.
  • Provide expert input into Development Plans, Master Plans, Structure Plans, and Planning Referrals.
  • Advise on landscape planning referrals and initiatives from other planning authorities.
  • Respond to public and professional enquiries regarding landscaping matters.
  • Support Planning Investigation Officers in compliance and enforcement of landscape-related issues.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience or qualifications in landscape architecture or landscape design or related field and extensive experience in the landscape, landscape planning or horticultural field.
  • Experience with reading and interpreting landscape architectural plans.
  • High level of horticultural and or arboricultural knowledge.
  • Experience and knowledge of all aspects of landscape construction.
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
  • A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
