The Role
As Team Leader Aviation Refuelling you are responsible to the Flight Commander Airbase Logistics Flight for leading the Aviation Refuelling (AvR) section. You will carry out all regulatory duties required of a Base Fuel Quality Control Officer for Aviation Fuel. Working at RAAF Edinburgh you are required to work in accordance with the Defence Fuel Management System.
The position leads up to 15 AvR staff (Australian Defence Force (ADF), Australian Public Service (APS) and Contractors), undertaking fleet management, emergency response management, training and awareness program coordination, inspections and audits, records management compliance, stakeholder engagement and contract monitoring and execution. You will be required to undertake complex work under limited direction.
You will be accountable for organising your workflow and making independent decisions relating to all areas of responsibility and provide any associated policy advice based on mandated policies and legislation. This role provides very limited opportunity for working from home.
The Workplace Environment Includes:
- Computer Use.
- Graphical/Analytical based.

- Climbing, Bending, Squatting, Reaching, Push/pull.
- Manual dexterity/manipulation.
- Distance walking (i.e. large building or inter-building transit).
- Requirement to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Exposure to Petrol, Oil, Lubricant Products that may cause dermatological conditions.
- Dangerous Goods/ Equipment.
About our Team
No.24 (City of Adelaide) Squadron is one of nine operational squadrons within 95Wing, Combat Support Group (CSG). Its mission is to deliver permanent airbase capability at RAAF Base Edinburgh while supporting expeditionary operations.
24SQN is responsible for key functions including the Air Base Operations Centre, airbase security, base aviation safety, road and air movements, mechanical equipment operations and maintenance and operation of the Defence Fuel Installation - Aviation, as well as chaplaincy and physical and recreational training. While it is no longer a flying squadron, 24SQN enables the air operations for the flying squadrons stationed at Edinburgh.
Joining our team will allow you to work at RAAF Base Edinburgh, which is home to the Boeing P-8 Poseidon. We are a diverse team and benefit from interacting with a range of stakeholders.
Our Ideal Candidate
Our Ideal Candidate will have the following attributes:
- Builds and sustains effective relationships in a team environment whilst displaying leadership qualities in managing personnel including APS, ADF and Contractors.
- Can complete complex processes to ensure compliance with technical regulations in a safety critical area including development and review of processes.
- Demonstrates effective legislative, policy and regulatory framework interpretation and compliance.
- Takes initiative and has the ability to manage multiple stakeholders to facilitate AvR operations.
- Has the confidence to recommend solutions to issues influencing the achievement of desired outcomes.
- Demonstrates excellent organisational and time management skills, as well as attention to detail in maintaining oversight and coordination of a high volume of activities.
