The Opportunity

As the WHS Manager within the Newcastle Depot, you will support the HSEQ Team in maintaining and enhancing our safety culture across all levels of the business. This role is integral to ensuring the ongoing compliance, training and development of safety with all Borger Cranes employees to ensure the alignment with legislative requirements and industry standards. The WHS Manager will ensure to have daily presence at Borger Cranes local projects, sites/depots and conduct toolbox pre-start meetings.

What We Are Looking For

Support the HSEQ Manager in maintaining the Safety Management System and driving WHS compliance across the depot.

Liaise with clients on HSEQ strategies, site-specific inductions, and compliance documentation.

Assist in developing and implementing new HSEQ policies in line with legislative and project changes.

Facilitate staff inductions, compliance screening, refresher training, and upskilling initiatives.

Conduct regular site visits, audits, inspections, and incident investigations.

Coordinate internal training programs and ensure all safety records and documentation are current.

Support the administration of WHS-related documents, registers, and reporting.

Collaborate with internal teams (Allocations, Fleet, etc.) to ensure WHS objectives are met.

Assist in the procurement of PPE and review safety-related purchases for compliance.

Maintain high standards of communication across all departments and sites.

Ability to prioritise competing demands and perform under pressure

Positive attitude and strong problem-solving ability

Willingness to work occasional weekends if required

Qualifications

Knowledge of the heavy industry, mining or construction industry

Understanding of risk management and WHS legislation

ISO 9001:2016 Quality Management System experience

Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety

First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
