About the role
As Estimator and Planner, you are the outward face of the business, receiving and providing quotes, processing orders and overseeing the production of awarded jobs. You will form a key part in the management team to ensure the production schedule is filled with profitable work and that the work is completed to a high-quality standard, in the agreed time schedule.
This full-time position is based in Hastings, Victoria.
What you'll be doing
Preparing quotes, including: tending to customer enquiries, analysing and interpreting drawings, specifications and other relevant documentation, estimating labour, materials and subcontractor costs
Processing received orders, including: procuring materials, monitoring resource planning and delivery timelines, monitoring project budgets and managing risks
Monitoring project progress against plans and budgets, identifying and addressing any potential issues or risks, liaising with customers on order progress and problem solving
Collaborating with the management team to direct manufacturing staff, optimise processes and identify opportunities for improvement
Manage job quality control process including I&TP, Test Certificates, NCR and MDR.
Develop industry contacts and drive sales via phone, email, research and customer visits off-site
Providing regular updates and reporting to the Managing Director and other key stakeholders, including recommendations for new capabilities, improvements to machinery and service offering
Act as a nominated first-aid representative
What we're looking for
Certificate III (Fitting and Turning) or degree in Mechanical Engineering
3+ years of experience as an Estimator and/or Planner in the Mechanical Engineering industry
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, knowledge of engineering materials and machining and fabrication processes
Proficiency in the use of office computer programs such as MS office and CAD/CAM tools
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
