About the role
The Assistant Accountant – Management Accounting will work day-to-day in the Management Accounting Team, functioning as a business partner to the City. The role will support all areas of the Financial Services and Rates Business Unit, including financial accounting, revenue, management accounting and reporting and system auditing, on a permanent full-time basis.
Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly management reporting on Business Unit’s/Divisional and End of Financial Year performance.
- Assisting with modelling, monitoring and review of the City's Long Term Financial Plan.
- Maintain Capital Works Program based on the information provided by the Capital Review Team.
- Reconciliations of the Loans, Reserves and Restricted contributions.
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of Developer Contributions Plans.
- Assist in the activities of all the City’s non-financial Assets and Infrastructure in accordance with the City’s accounting policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
- Revenue management processes including rating, sundry and grants. Financial Systems Auditing processes including accounts payable, insurance, assets, investments, borrowings, reserves and external audit. Reporting and Systems Audit processes including reports, systems, internal audits and policies and procedures. Management Accounting processes including long term financial planning, budgets, adjustments, journals, analysis, chart of accounts and presentations.

The successful candidate will have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business with a major in Accounting or Finance
- Knowledge in Financial Accounting
- Knowledge in Management Accounting
- Demonstrated experience providing a high level of customer service
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- C Class Drivers Licence
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate

The salary for this position will be from $84,485.93 - $100,282.66 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
