About the Role
As a Hydraulic Fitter / Technician, your responsibilities will include:
Stripping, assessing, and repairing hydraulic cylinders and components
bending and installing hydraulic pipes and tubes.
Manufacture of hydraulic hose.
Identification of all hydraulic threads and fittings and able select correct fittings
Read and understand hydraulic and pneumatic circuit drawings.
studying drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations, and machine settings
Screw cutting and threading rods and shafts.
diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of machines, and overhauling and repairing mechanical parts and fluid power equipment
Troubleshooting hydraulic systems across a range of industries
Working with truck PTO drives, hydraulic pumps, DC hydraulic systems, vehicle-mounted cranes
Maintaining specialised systems such as gearbox/motor drives for refrigerated trailers and hydraulic dust suppression units
Site visits and customer liaison, including diagnostics and hands-on servicing
Managing and delivering projects from start to finish, including sourcing parts and writing job specifications and service reports
Supporting technical sales activities and assisting during periods of staff leave
Participating in both workshop and office-based tasks
Qualifications & Skills Required
Essential Qualifications:
Cert III or higher in Mechanical Engineering (maintenance, installation & commissioning)
Welding certification (Cert II or better)
Computer skills (word, excel etc), qualification desirable (functional skills ICT)
Valid Victorian full driver’s licence
Heavy Rigid (non-synchromesh) licence
Forklift and White Card
Mobile hose technician certification (preferred)
Hydraulic technician certification or equivalent
Essential Experience:
5+ years in hydraulic cylinder manufacture and repair
4+ years in welding and fabrication
1+ years as a hydraulic service technician or equivalent
1+ year as a production line maintenance fitter
1+ year in quoting, customer service, and cost estimation
Strong report writing and documentation skills
Demonstrated ability to manage entire projects and liaise with clients
Fluent spoken and written English communication skills. To fulfill this requirement, we would expect that the applicant would have English as their first language
